I’m a singer, multi-instrumentalist and composer. I’m based in Whitby, North Yorkshire, where I’m working on my musical projects including my third solo album, rehearsing my new band The Age of Reason, teaching guitar and violin and performing now and again  I’ve  recorded a new album with Dr Millar and the Cute Hoors, the last one having been released around 25 years ago!

I am collaborating with other artists on their musical projects across Europe, as well as co-ordinating and directing music for events in the UK

This summer I will be running music workshops for young people in Whitby and Scarborough in conjunction with the Stephen Joseph Theatre

I teach violin and guitar (electric and acoustic) most styles, also singing/performance and ukelele.

I run music sessions for children and young people for WHISH (Whitby Hidden Impairment Support and Help).

A brief history

I’ve been a musician for over 35 years  playing guitar and violin in bands. We recorded albums and appeared on TV and radio in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain and Sicily. I have worked with Blur on their Parklife tour, played with the Men They Couldn’t Hang and have also shared a stage with Tom Robinson and the Pogues.

Solo, I have played at theatre venues, as well as art centres more intimate venues such as the Troubadour in London and the La Rosa in Whitby. I have supported Nick Lowe and Ian McNabb. I have recorded two solo albums and am working on my third.

My second album, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark  features contributions from 20 other musicians who I have played with during my career. It’s distributed by Proper and one of the places you can listen to snippets and buy it is here! In 2005 I wrote a musical based on the Nativity story, which has been performed twice at St Paul’s, Brentford and recorded in 2011.

I have an Enhanced DBS and am a member of the Musicians Union and Registry of Guitar Tutors.
